A Squeek of Inspiration!

Here is Holly
with our two ratty girls.
Bella is on the left and Sofie on the right.
We only had Sofie for 2 weeks before
she passed away from the respiratory
infection she and Bella both had
when we got them from Petsmart.
They were just babies and so cute and fun.

Holly made this using Sculpy and some of
Lucky's fur.

Lucky keeping an eye on Bella

Benny not getting too close to the cage
since Bella bit his nose.
Bella never bites unless you stick your
finger (or nose) between the
bars of her cage.
She has never bitten anyone who
opens her cage and takes her out.
She loves to climb on your shoulder and
tickle your neck!
She is lonely now though....
I just am not sure about buying another
one after loosing Sofie...

Hello Pink Kitties

When I was a teenager, I LOVED Hello Kitty!
Do you have a Sanrio (Hello Kitty) store near you?
We don't have one in Central Oregon.
When we went over "The Hill"
(Cascade Mt. Range)
to "The Valley"
(Portland)
We Popped in to the
Washington Square Mall
They have a Sanrio and a Pottery Barn/PBKids
L*O*V*E it there!!
Jesse drew this for me when he was a wee lad.
He called it "Hiker Cat".
I guess he was about 4 when he did it.
It has always been my favorite!

My second son, Lucky being
Mr. Naughty Pants
He knows he is not supposed to be in the dryer!
My Sister Cherish had a cat named Ashley.
Ashley got in the dryer and it got turned on...
My Mom found her a short time later when she
realized the dryer sounded wrong.
Ashley's eyes were bugged out and she was beat up.
She recovered and became a much more loving cat.
Still can't figure that one out, but get really
freaked out about Lucky being left in there when
it gets turned on......I almost always check it,
turn it on and then stop and check it again......
He is my precious lamb!!

Benny doesn't like Pink!

This is Ben
Benny does NOT like his little top
He doesn't like that it is cute
He doesn't like that it is pink
But MOST of all......
He doesn't like that he can't get to
his stitches to rip them out!

Benny is a naughty boy.
He is a HOUSE cat who will dart
out the door if you leave it open....
Someone left it open....
Ben was found with a hole in his arm
After his little surgery, he would not leave
it alone. Nurse Darcy said put a top on him.
Hence...
He has actually been very good about
leaving the top on.
It is much sweeter than wearing one
of those plastic cone collars!!
He gets his stitches out Monday.
Maybe he learned his lesson!

The Pet Parade: Past pets #1

This post was inspired by my friend Carol. We got to talking about the best pocket pets the other day. She had sent me an email with pictures of the cutest tiny baby hedgehog you have ever seen. Google: baby hedgehog if you want a dose of extra cuteness! We talked about hamsters (been there, done that) ferrets (no thanks) mice (too small) and gerbils (too hyper). I told her the best small pet we ever had (next to my son's garter snake, Carter, who his 3rd grade teacher accidentally cooked by placing his cage too near the heater) (We forgive you Mrs. Small) was dumbo rats. UGhhh, Rats! you say.....Well, YES!! My son picked out a adult dumbo rat at the pet shop. As I was paying for "Daisy", we remarked on how chubby she was. The lady says," She may be expecting...I am not sure". I reply, "And when can we expect babies if she is???". "Oh, not for a couple of weeks". Within 24 hours, my children and I got to experience the miracle of birth. 7 times. One died. We had 6 little red, squirming blobs. Daisy was an amazing mom. She was always wonderful with us and let us handle them as much as we liked. Soon they turned into the sweetest little babies you could imagine. Look at those faces........We ended up letting the elementary school keep Daisy as a pet and we kept two of the babies. Hoodsy and Macy. They were wonderful pets. Rats are not nocturnal like most rodent pets. They sleep at night and WANT you to play with them during the day. They can be potty box trained and are pretty clean. Their tails are not funky....they are covered with the softest peachfuzz ever. They love for you to play games with them and learn to come to their own names. They are really more like dogs!! We would still have rats today except for one thing. They have become so inbred, etc...that they are extremely susceptible to cancer. Both Hoodsy and Macy came down with horrible tumors on their feet. There was nothing we could do for them and ended up putting them to sleep when they were almost 3 years old. Very sad......We decided we could not get any more and see them suffer too. Now we have BUNNIES....but that is another post!
